Probably the reason why you are looking to visit the island of Formentera is because of the many breathtaking beaches that are to be found on this magical island. Due to the boomerang-like shape there is usually always a beach that is covered from the wind and has calm waters. You just need to know which one to pick depending on the weather...
Most of the sandy beaches are to be found in the Illetes and Llevant area of Formentera which is the most Northern part of the island. Many come here by boat even on day charter trips from Ibiza, Formentera's bigger sister. There are in fact many alternatives to this famous and glamourous area.
Other beaches that are perhaps more authentic would be found on the southern part of the island. Migjorn has a very long strip of sandy beaches mixed with rocky areas in some parts and crystal clear waters just like in Illetes, however with a lot less traffic in terms of yachts... Other options are Cala Saona in the west and Es Caló in the north east. Take a look at the Formentera beaches we believe are a must-visit when on your holiday.
